Nikon's first auto-focus SLR. It was produced from 1988 to 1996. This was a transitional camera that spanned the gap between the classic mechanical cameras and the future electronic ones (metering, automatic exposure control, AF, LCD viewfinder display etc). It retained the classic mechanical look and controls wile add the sorts of features we now take for granted.
